Public Lecture Series - Self Dependency in Remote Communities: Food, Energy, Future
Benjamin Canning, Co-Founder & Co-Project Manager, Growing North
Remote communities in Canada, and for that matter around the world, have far too long relied on extensive supply chains, and unsustainable methods of energy. Growing North, challenges this existing mentality, through the construction of off grid food production facilities in Canada's Arctic. This allows remote communities to produce massive amounts of food on location, reduce the overall cost, reduce dependency on supply chains, and with incorporated educational programming help increase local graduation rates. Join us to discuss incorporating Green Technology, and the future of expansion!
Benjamin Canning is an avid social entrepreneur co-founding Growing North, a non-profit that addresses food insecurity in Canada's far North, and co-founding Project Pura, an international water sanitation initiative. His personal mission is to bring about positive systemic change through the use of social entrepreneurship, commerce and green technology.
Driven by his passion to solve global systemic issues and create a better world for tomorrow, Benjamin is excited to be attending Waterloo as a Guest speaker with WISE!
